TechNet Public Policy Priorities
TechNet is committed to advancing U.S. competitiveness and economic growth. Public policies and private sector initiatives that spur our nation's innovation-driven global competitiveness are TechNet's top priority. TechNet's public policy priorities include:
- Green Technologies: Support green technologies and innovation as a critical part of the solution to national security, economic competitiveness and global energy and environmental challenges.
- Education and 21st Century Workforce: Develop initiatives to strengthen U.S. science and math education, increase the number of Americans attaining degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and ensure a high-skilled workforce.
- Innovation: Support legislation, such as The National Innovation Act, to spur our nation’s innovation-driven global competitiveness.
- Patent Litigation Reform: Promote rational improvements to the litigation system that end abusive patent lawsuits.
- Trade and Public Diplomacy: Support International trade policies and agreements that expand markets for U.S. industry.
- Broadband and Next Generation Internet: Advocate policies to spur the rapid deployment of broadband networks and consumer access to Internet content and services, and to ensure the continued growth and vitality of the Internet.
- Sarbanes-Oxley Reform: Work to reduce unintended impacts and compliance burdens on small companies resulting from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, while maintaining the integrity of the Act's corporate governance goals.
- Stock Options: Promote policies that encourage broad-based employee ownership through stock options.
In addition, TechNet will continue its ongoing efforts in support of targeted policies including tax reform, legal reform, research & development, cyber security and other initiatives that improve the climate for U.S. innovation.
