The National Innovation ActTechNet is committed to advancing U.S. competitiveness and economic growth. Public policies and private sector initiatives that spur our nation’s innovation-driven global competitiveness are TechNet’s top priority. The National Innovation Act is a comprehensive plan to recapture and maintain our nation’s global innovation leadership. TechNet supports the legislation’s approach to the most compelling public policy challenge currently facing our nation: the preservation of our innovation-driven global competitiveness. The TechNet Innovation Initiative has identified many of the challenges that the National Innovation Act will address, and highlighted many of the opportunities that this legislation will allow our nation to seize. Technological advances; the convergence of computing, communications and content and cross-disciplinary innovations are enabling a new era of advanced technologies and whole new industries. American preeminence in this new era, however, is being challenged as many other nations are rapidly catching up to -- and even surpassing -- the United States in areas of traditional American leadership. There is no more important public policy priority than creating an environment in which innovation will flourish and fuel continued U.S. economic growth and global leadership. Our nation must adopt and implement a comprehensive and effective innovation strategy. The National Innovation Act is a multi-pronged approach that begins to address this urgent challenge.
