July 29, 2010 TechNet Supports Representative Hodes’ Bipartisan Efforts to Protect Small Businesses from SSTP Tax Burdens
Washington, DC -TechNet, the bipartisan policy and political network of CEOs that promotes the growth of the innovation economy, today voiced support for Representative Paul Hodes’ resolution titled, “Supporting the preservation of Internet entrepreneurs and small businesses,” and its goal of promoting innovation, online retail and small entrepreneurs.
“TechNet applauds the bipartisan actions of Representative Paul Hodes and his colleagues in insisting that Congress not saddle small online retailers with additional burdens in these challenging economic times,” said Rey Ramsey, President and CEO of TechNet. “Online commerce is an important economic driver that should be encouraged and the last thing Congress should do is make their jobs harder.”
“We have serious concerns about the impact of Streamlined Sales Tax Proposals on small online retailers and believe that they’ll do far more harm that good.”
“We support Representative Hodes in calling on Congress to not pass legislation that will provide relatively small benefits for states at a great cost to small online retailers.”
