PUBLIC POLICY

TechNet champions policies that create a climate for innovation, allowing technology companies to create, thrive and compete. TechNet members work together to identify key policy priorities and execute successful legislative campaigns at the federal and state levels. TechNet members have a unique opportunity to work together to shape public policy through our CEO Task Forces and Senior Executive Working Groups.

CEO Task Forces
Through participation in CEO Task Forces, TechNet members work alongside other CEOs to bring a new perspective and fresh approaches to address pressing national issues impacting the technology industries.

    Education Task Force: A group of the nation's leading CEOs committed to improving U.S. math and science competitiveness and increasing the number of American students pursuing studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

    Broadband Task Force: A group of CEOs and senior executives formed in 2001 to guide TechNet's development of broadband policy.

    Cyber Security Task Force: Representing leading computer networking, hardware, software, and cyber security companies, members devote time and resources to targeted initiatives to inform cyber security policymaking, promote best practices in network security, and support public-private efforts to protect the Internet.

Senior Executive Working Groups
TechNet members have a unique opportunity to craft industry-based initiatives that inform opinion leaders on technology policy issues through participation in senior executive working groups, including:

    Financial Officers Working Group: Provides technical and policy guidance to TechNet efforts on corporate governance, accounting standards and finance policy.

    Tax Directors Working Group: Provides technical and policy guidance to TechNet efforts on tax reform, economic growth and stimulus proposals and tax/finance policy issues.

    Broadband and Next Generation Internet Working Group: Representatives of leading Internet and e-commerce companies develop approaches to enable the continued growth of the Internet and Internet-based innovation.

    Public Policy Committee: Comprising the policy and government affairs professionals of our member companies, the PPC helps to develop and provides strategic guidance to TechNet’s federal and state policy agendas. Public Policy Subcommittees guide TechNet's efforts in Corporate Governance, Education and Workforce Policy, Research and Development, eHealth and Trade.

POLITICS

As the technology industry’s largest fundraising organization and most active supporter of both Republican and Democrat political candidates and elected officials, TechNet offers its members unparalleled access to the leading decision-makers in Congress, the Administration, and state government. TechNet’s strategic political advocacy is targeted towards the leaders in technology policy-making. TechNet members enjoy:

  • Relationships with key federal and state policy-makers. TechNet has hosted over 400 high-level political events including meet-and-greet and fundraising events with U.S. Presidents, senior Members of Congress and state officials.
  • Participation in coordinated industry political outreach that significantly amplifies individual impact.
  • A role in guiding the technology industry’s premier political advocacy committee and political outreach.

THE NETWORK

With a network of over 150 committed CEOs – from the leaders of the nation’s largest technology companies to venture capitalists to founders of innovative start-up companies – TechNet provides invaluable opportunities for our members to build relationships and connect with other CEOs. And as a member of our network, TechNet CEOs and senior executives have the opportunity to participate in our signature annual events and numerous high-level meetings:

  • TechNet Day: TechNet's annual Washington, D.C CEO fly-in including high-level meetings with Cabinet Secretaries and other senior Administration officials and House and Senate leaders, followed by exclusive networking receptions and dinners.
  • TechNet Innovation Summit: Our annual Silicon Valley event bringing together the nation's technology leaders to discuss emerging trends and the future of the technology industry. Moderated by renowned journalist Charlie Rose, the TechNet Innovation Summit discussions have been nationally broadcast.
  • Policy Events: TechNet members regularly meet with Cabinet Secretaries and leading policymakers in Washington, DC, Silicon Valley and our node locations in a full calendar of policy roundtables and company site visits.
  • Policy Roundtable Speakers Series: TechNet members gather for monthly in-depth discussions with senior Administration officials on leading technology policy issues.
