On August 2nd, 2011 TechNet hosted President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness in Silicon Valley for its next in a series of Listening and Action Sessions to solicit input on how the public and private sectors can come together to foster opportunity and promote job creation for startups and high growth businesses. 

Members of the Jobs Council (Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers Partner and TechNet co-founder John Doerr; Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg; and Revolution Founder and former AOL CEO Steve Case) were joined by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings; U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra; VMware CTO Steve Herrod; and TechNet President and CEO Rey Ramsey for a panel discussion moderated by Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine. The session was held at VMware, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA
