September 10, 2010-TechNet Applauds California Public Utility Commission Report Smart Grid Leadership Must Continue Immediately
Sacramento, CA -TechNet, the bipartisan political network of CEOs that promotes the growth of the innovation economy, today released the following statement from President and CEO Rey Ramsey regarding the release by the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) of the Structure Consulting Group’s report on the PG&E Smart Metering program:
“TechNet is pleased that the Structure Group’s independent report has validated what we have known to be true — that the Smart Grid technologies being deployed by PG&E are working well and are more accurate and capable than the technologies they replace. Smart Grid technologies can help meet our country’s energy needs and save consumers money while addressing our growing environmental challenges. Additionally, Smart Grid deployments are helping to create thousands of clean tech jobs across the nation.
“Given the Structure Group’s unequivocal verification of the system’s performance, we strongly encourage the CPUC and the California Legislature to take all necessary actions to accelerate the deployment of the Smart Grid in California, give consumers new tools to control their energy use and support innovation and continuing technology leadership in this critical sector. This report makes it clear — there is simply no valid justification for any further delays.
