Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the bipartisan policy and political network of technology CEOs that promotes the growth of the innovation economy, made the following statement upon the introduction of the Marketplace Equity Act by Representatives Steve Womack (R-AK) and Jackie Speier (D-CA).

“Online sales continue to be a bright spot in an otherwise challenging economy for businesses both large and small,” said Rey Ramsey, President and CEO of TechNet. “The Marketplace Equity Act would threaten that success, especially for small retailers, by unleashing a flood of onerous and expensive tax requirements on entrepreneurs.  We do not support any effort that will make it more difficult for new competitors and innovators to succeed.”
