TechNet Supports House Approval of Permanent Normalized Trade Relations (PNTR) for The Russian Federation

Washington, DC – TechNet, the leading bipartisan policy and political network of CEOs that promotes the growth of the innovation economy, today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives, and Speaker Boehner and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, for passage of H.R. 6156, which approved Permanent Normalized Trade Relations (PNTR) for The Russian Federation.

“This is a very important and welcome step by the House of Representatives,” said Rey Ramsey, President and CEO of TechNet. “Access to markets is key to our nation’s economic growth and prosperity.  As part of their accession package, Russia agreed to join the WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA), which will eliminate tariffs on a wide range of IT goods.  In addition, by approving PNTR, American companies will gain access to valuable WTO dispute resolution mechanisms. We urge the Senate to now consider and pass PNTR.”
