Patrick Fleming
Director of Federal Policy and External Affairs

Patrick Fleming serves as TechNet’s Director of Federal Policy and External Affairs. Based in Washington, D.C., Fleming directs TechNet’s major efforts related to artificial intelligence and plays a key role in the design and execution of TechNet’s comprehensive federal advocacy, campaign, marketing, and communications strategies.
Fleming has over a decade of federal policy and public affairs experience. He began his career in Washington on Capitol Hill as an intern for U.S. Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and staff assistant to U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (R-NC). He went on to serve as a senior policy advisor to U.S. Representatives Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Mike Pompeo (R-KS), handling both Energy and Commerce and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee work. In 2017, after leading U.S. Representative Mike Pompeo’s confirmation and transition process as the incoming CIA Director, Fleming joined a strategic communications and government affairs firm, where he represented clients in the technology, transportation, energy, and national security industries with a combined focus on government relations, strategic communications, and media strategy.
Fleming, a North Carolina native and Eagle Scout, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree from the Hussman School of Journalism and Media with a second concentration in Economics. While at Chapel Hill, Patrick served on the editorial board of the Daily Tar Heel and was President of Delta Kappa Epsilon (Beta) fraternity.
