TechNet Statement on Proposed Decision to Deploy 7,500 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Northern California

Sacramento — TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, issued the following statement applauding an administrative law judge’s (ALJ) proposed decision to support the deployment of 7,500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) service territory. The following can be attributed to Andrea Deveau, TechNet’s executive director for California and the Southwest.

“California is a true pioneer when it comes to electric vehicle adoption and the build-out of EV charging networks. This proposed decision is a compromise that takes an important step in building a robust network of charging stations to support the state’s growing network of EV drivers. It also adopts critical principles that encourage competition, innovation, and consumer choice in California’s EV charging marketplace. As other states across the country develop charging station deployment plans of their own, they should look to this plan as a model. TechNet applauds this decision and looks forward to working with environmentalists, consumer advocates, utilities, and the EV industry to accelerate the continued build-out of a robust EV charging network in northern California.”
