Cisco Offers Free Entry-Level Cybersecurity Certification

Cisco’s Networking Academy is offering a free entry-level certification through its cybersecurity learning pathway.  The course prepares individuals for an entry-level cybersecurity position, such as a Cybersecurity Technician, Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, or Tier 1 Help Desk Support role.  Last month, during a White House Cyber Workforce and Education Summit, Cisco also committed to training an additional 200,000 students in the U.S. over the next three years.

Amazon Helps Ukrainian Students Continue Learning

Amazon is working with schools and universities affected by the war in Ukraine to expand remote learning opportunities for students, preserve research data, and provide training and services to refugees.  Since the start of the war, AWS Partner EPAM has been working with 22 universities to migrate critical resources from on-premise servers to AWS Cloud.  This will help ensure students can continue learning remotely if there are power disruptions or damage to campus facilities.

Coursera is Helping Boost Women’s Online Education to Expand Opportunity

Coursera partnered with the International Finance Corporation and the European Commission on a global study on women and online learning in emerging markets.  The report found that online learning can lead to career outcomes in emerging markets, increased demand for online learning will outlast the pandemic, and women and other underserved populations view online learning as more accessible than in-person education.

Deloitte Foundation Helps Prepare Students for Careers in STEM

The Deloitte Foundation is helping prepare future talent by driving diverse students to STEM careers.  The Foundation works with nonprofits, secondary and higher education institutions, and across industries to support the growth of inclusive pipelines of STEM-enabled future leaders.  The Deloitte Foundation helps students navigate career pathways while building STEM and STEM-adjacent competencies. The end goal: students can be positioned for a range of college and professional possibilities.

GM is Expanding its Hands-Free Super Cruise System

General Motors announced that Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology, will soon be expanded to work on more roads, giving customers greater accessibility to hands-free driving.  By doubling the Super Cruise road network, hundreds of thousands of additional miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada can be explored hands-free.
