Terry Howerton - TechNexus
Terry Howerton is a passionate entrepreneur, community builder and thought leader on collaboration, innovation and the social enterprise. A lifelong entrepreneur, he is a frequent speaker and active influence on public policy for the technology industry. Howerton was the founding chairman of ITA, creating a trade organization to serve nearly 700 tech companies throughout the Midwest and champion the growth of the industry.
Howerton has built or led software, internet, and infrastructure companies, and today sits on the board or advises several start-ups and growth stage businesses. Howerton founded and leads TechNexus, a venture development collaborative that’s launched more than 200 startups and created an applied innovation model for corporate America and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Terry founded the Chicago Tech Academy, a charter school committed to educating future entrepreneurs and technology leaders in Chicago’s inner-city and underserved communities, and a model for similar academies throughout America. Through this role, Howerton became acutely interested in education reform and actively speaks, writes and participates in efforts to improve the system.
