Groundsource: using AI to help communities better predict natural disasters
Google introduced Groundsource, a new Gemini-powered methodology that transforms public information into a high-quality record of historical disaster data, starting with flash floods in urban areas. Using Gemini, Groundsource analyzed decades of public reports and identified over 2.6 million historical flood events spanning more than 150 countries. With this dataset, researchers trained a new model that makes tangible progress toward predicting flash floods in urban areas up to 24 hours in advance. Google is using this technology to build a more resilient future and continue its work to ensure no one is surprised by a natural disaster.

Microsoft announces Copilot Health, an AI service that gives users personalized health insights
Microsoft launched Copilot Health, an AI service that lets users securely combine medical records from more than 50,000 U.S. health providers and wearable data from over 50 different device types. The tool can help users understand test results, identify trends in sleep, activity, or vital signs, and prepare questions for doctors ahead of consultations. Microsoft created Copilot to help patients get the most out of their appointments and make informed decisions with their doctors rather than scrolling symptoms at midnight.
