Apple Expanding the Use of Recycled Materials Across its Products

Apple has increased the use of recycled content across its products.  For the first time, the company introduced certified recycled gold, and more than doubled the use of recycled tungsten, rare earth elements, and cobalt.  Nearly 20 percent of all material used in Apple products in 2021 was recycled, the highest-ever use of recycled content.  Apple released new details on this progress, its recycling innovation efforts, and clean energy in its 2022 Environmental Progress Report.

DoorDash is helping merchants, Dashers, and customers transition to a more sustainable future.  DoorDash is increasing access to e-bikes in multiple cities to help decrease emissions.  Customers in several cities can also order their meals through DoorDash in containers designed to be cleaned, returned, and reused for future orders.

Cruise Committing to Sustainability Year-Round

Of the nearly 900,000 autonomous miles Cruise drove in 2021, not one added to CO2 emissions and all were powered by 100 percent renewable energy through the company’s Farm to Fleet program, an initiative that sources solar renewable energy credits generated by family-owned farms in California’s Central Valley.  Through this program, Cruise has offset nearly 229 metric tons of CO2 emissions (alongside significant other air pollutants) from California communities across its test miles, social impact deliveries, and pilot ride hail operations.

PayPal Investing in Our Planet and Taking Equitable Climate Action

Environmental sustainability and climate action are critical to PayPal’s mission of enabling all people to participate fully in the global economy.  As a result, PayPal is matching 100 percent of the energy in their data centers with renewable generation, two years ahead of their 2023 goal, is a supporter of the Catalyst Fund, a global inclusive tech accelerator that helps innovative startups build and launch fintech products that enable greater resilience for climate-vulnerable communities, and is funding inclusive climate impact projects.
