Cybersecurity threats are on the rise. As we are seeing across the globe, this will only intensify in the months and years ahead. The number of successful breaches — which include unauthorized access to data, applications, services, networks, or devices — jumped 31 percent over the previous year, to an average of 270 per company. Tech is working to keep data safe from threats by enacting new measures to protect accounts, identify and prevent attacks before they happen, and provide threat intelligence. Google Increasing Account Protections

In a series of measures to help those impacted by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, Google is enacting measures to reduce privacy risks and cyber threats.  Google has automatically increased account security protections for people in the region, such as enabling two-factor authentication for all users and promoting the use of its Advanced Protection Program.  Google has also enabled Safe Browsing Mode for users in the impacted areas to protect against phishing and malware attempts.

Meta Identifying Emerging Threats

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Meta is identifying emerging threats and responding as quickly as possible to protect accounts.  Measures include users being able to lock their profile and removing the ability to see and search friends lists to prevent being targeted.  On Instagram, Meta is offering encrypted direct messages to help keep accounts safe.

New Oracle Service Providing Threat Intelligence

Oracle launched the Oracle Threat Intelligence Service to provide integrated and actionable threat intelligence. Oracle Threat Intelligence Service aggregates threat intelligence data across many different sources and curates it to provide actionable guidance for threat detection and prevention.
