Washington, D.C. – Linda Moore, President and CEO of TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today joined MSNBC’s Morning Joe to announce TechNet’s “AI for America” initiative to educate Americans about how AI is improving their day-to-day lives, growing our economy, and keeping us safe. The announcement comes ahead of TechNet’s Tuesday “AI for Good” Capitol Hill event.

AI for America is a $25 million initiative that will highlight AI’s current and future benefits to the American public to improve lives, grow our economy, and keep us safe. To kick off AI for America, TechNet is hosting “AI for Good” on Tuesday, July 25, on Capitol Hill. AI for Good will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and deep subject matter experts to discuss how AI is revolutionizing how we live and work, and what smart regulation around AI could look like. The event will begin at 9:15 a.m. ET in the Hart Senate Office Building and feature discussions with Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-CA), Principal Scientist/Research Director of Google DeepMind Douglas Eck, Getaround CEO and Founder Sam Zaid, Nasdaq Chief Technology Officer/Chief Information Officer Brad Peterson, and others. You can RSVP for tomorrow’s event here.

“Safety and security in AI systems are so important, but the societal and economic benefits of AI are immense. AI for America will demystify and familiarize the American public and policymakers with AI’s benefits. We are also going to engage with policymakers on really smart regulations.” Linda Moore said on Morning Joe“We really want to tell that story about AI that hasn’t been told — how it can further medical research, treatments, and cures, predict severe weather, and have all kinds of immense benefits to society.”

Moore continued, “Tomorrow, we’re hosting an event on Capitol Hill where we will bring together business leaders with policymakers and subject matter experts to talk about how AI is already being used by many industries to improve our way of life.”
