Organization Backs Legislation to Codify AISI, Help Ensure Reliable Science to Mitigate Risks to National Security, Public Safety, and Individual Rights
Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today announced support for the Future of AI Innovation Act and the AI Advancement and Reliability Act. Both bills would codify the U.S. AI Safety Institute within NIST (AISI). The AISI is working to develop standardized metrics for frontier AI, progress testing and validation methods, and support global coordination on AI safety issues. Several TechNet members are a part of the AISI’s Consortium, which works to provide private sector support for the development of science-based and empirically backed AI safety guidelines.
“AI holds tremendous promise for improving jobs, health, climate, and infrastructure,” said Linda Moore, President and CEO of TechNet. “The AISI will ensure the U.S. maintains a robust, scientific approach to mitigating potential risks and developing safeguards so we can advance the limitless potential of this technology for generations to come.”
