Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today issued the following comment, attributable to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore, in advance of today’s Senate AI Insight Forum, which will include John Doerr, TechNet co-founder and Executive Council member and Chairman of Kleiner Perkins, and Steve Case, TechNet Executive Council member and Chairman and CEO of Revolution:

“AI is driving innovation that can help us solve the great challenges of our time. It is being used to predict severe weather more accurately, protect critical infrastructure, defend against cyber threats, and accelerate the development of new medical treatments, including life-saving vaccines and ways to detect earlier signs of cancer.

“We’re in a race to win the next era of innovation and China and other competitors are striving to win the AI battle. America must be the global leader in AI investment, development, and deployment to ensure it is implemented responsibly across the world. That means developing regulations in collaboration with experts to make sure we have the right policies in place that address the genuine risks associated with AI while ensuring America continues to lead the way.

“We applaud Leader Schumer and a bipartisan group of Senators for bringing together leading voices like John Doerr and Steve Case to discuss the importance of strategic investments in AI across the country, the pivotal role AI plays in advancing American innovation, and how we can address AI’s risks while ensuring we’re making the most of its benefits for all Americans.”
