Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of technology CEOs and senior executives, filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Google LLC, et al. v. Epic Games, Inc. The brief urges the Court to review and reverse the Ninth Circuit’s finding that a single private plaintiff had legal standing to obtain nationwide relief that could have sweeping effects across the entire app store market and the digital economy. TechNet argues two key points in the brief: overbroad court relief threatens fast-moving industries like mobile and digital technology, stifling innovation and competition, and Epic lacks standing to obtain nationwide relief because the Constitution limits federal courts to directing relief to address a plaintiff’s particular injuries. Here, the court’s relief is aimed at non-parties, including hundreds of thousands of app developers and millions of users.
