Washington, D.C. — TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of tech CEOs and senior executives, today announced Mamoon Hamid, Kleiner Perkins Partner, as Chair of TechNet’s Executive Council. The organization also announced that John Zecca, Nasdaq Executive Vice President and Global Chief Legal, Risk, and Regulatory Officer, was elected to serve on the Executive Council. Hamid, first elected to the council in January 2025, succeeds Aparna Bawa, who stepped down earlier this year. He will serve a two-year term.

“TechNet is the critical link between policymakers and tech leaders. The collaboration they have fostered between the government and private sector has helped propel innovation and our economy,” said Hamid. “As TechNet continues to engage in the important policy debates that will shape our future, I’m excited to partner with Linda and her team to ensure U.S. technology drives the next era of innovation and that the American people prosper along with it.”

“Mamoon brings decades of experience backing some of the most transformative companies in the world and I am thrilled he will share his wisdom and guidance as chair,” said Linda Moore, TechNet President and CEO. “Mamoon clearly understands the importance of smart policies in maintaining America’s world-class technology ecosystem. We look forward to Mamoon playing a larger role in advancing our pro-innovation agenda in Washington and state capitals nationwide.”

John Zecca will serve a two-year term on the Executive Council. Ed Knight, Executive Chairman of Nasdaq, is stepping down from the council after serving nearly four terms.

“TechNet has long been an effective champion for the technology industry in Washington and across the country, helping ensure American innovation’s continued growth and success,” said Zecca. “We are at a pivotal moment when advances in AI, digital assets, and capital market modernization require smart, forward-looking policy frameworks. I look forward to contributing to that work and building on Ed Knight’s legacy of bringing the technology and financial communities together to shape a regulatory environment where responsible innovation can flourish.”

“From his time in government to his long tenure at Nasdaq, John Zecca brings a rare depth of experience at the intersection of public policy, capital markets, and technology,” said Moore. “TechNet is fortunate to have his perspective on the Executive Council to bolster our advocacy for policies that promote innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Continued Moore on Ed Knight’s departure from the Executive Council, “Ed has been an extraordinary leader, advisor, and friend to TechNet, having served on the Executive Council since 2018 — including a term as chair. His invaluable guidance steered us through countless challenges and helped us grow both in size and influence. Our industry and our organization are stronger because of his leadership.”
