Washington, D.C. – TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore made the following statement regarding the selection of California Senator Kamala Harris to be former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate. If elected, Harris would be the first female, first African-American, and first South Asian-American Vice President.
“TechNet has worked with Senator Harris since her days as California Attorney General, and we know her to be a person of great intellect, integrity, and ability who fights for those who need a strong voice for justice. Vice President Biden has chosen a proven leader with a record of protecting people against inequality and exploitation.
Senator Harris is a trailblazer who reflects our nation’s diversity and promise. She was the first woman elected as District Attorney of San Francisco, the first woman, the first African-American, and the first person of South Asian descent to become Attorney General of California, and the second African-American woman and first South Asian-American to serve in the Senate. She has never backed down from doing what she believes is right for the people of California. She now brings that same fighting spirit to this campaign on behalf of everyone across our nation.
We congratulate Senator Harris and look forward to her substantial contributions to the campaign and our national debate.”
