Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today announced Peter Chandler has been promoted to Senior Vice President for Federal Policy and Government Relations. Chandler will continue to oversee TechNet’s federal advocacy program.

“Peter has been a tremendous leader for our federal program. He was instrumental in working with Congress and the Biden Administration to pass historic legislation that made the largest investments in innovation and broadband in U.S. history. During the pandemic, he worked tirelessly to shape key policies to keep the economy running and deliver essential services to all Americans, including cashflow assistance, unemployment benefits for gig workers, an expansion of telehealth services, and emergency loan assistance for startups. He’s also proven to be a sage mentor for our federal advocacy team, which has more than doubled under his leadership. I am thrilled for Peter and look forward to our continued partnership to advance policies that help the U.S. win the next era of innovation,” said TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore.

Chandler joined TechNet in 2018 as Director of Federal Policy and Government Relations and most recently served as Vice President. Chandler leads TechNet’s federal policy team and has helped deploy a successful and comprehensive strategy to shape key pieces of legislation that deliver on many of our priorities, including the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, historic investments to fight climate change, increasing immigration through structural changes and legal victories, and codifying marriage equality.

“After spending more than 15 years on the Hill, I was ready for a new challenge but wanted to continue in a role where I could still make a difference. TechNet has been such a great home and has allowed me to continue to shape policy on issues that have real and significant impact on Americans’ lives. I want to thank Linda for her continued support and will continue to work with our outstanding team to advocate for policies that advance innovation, create jobs, and strengthen our global competitiveness.”

Prior to joining TechNet, Chandler was Chief of Staff for multiple members of Congress. Most recently, he spent three and a half years as Chief of Staff to Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI), who was appointed to the Energy and Commerce Committee in her second term. Peter’s first role on Capitol Hill was as Chief of Staff to Representative Mike Michaud (D-ME), a position he held for 12 years. In 2008, Peter ran the Maine Democratic Coordinated Campaign and built the most expansive field program in Maine history, helping win the largest Democratic majorities in the Maine House and Senate in 20 and 10 years, respectively, re-elect both members of Congress, and deliver Maine’s four electoral votes to Barack Obama.

Chandler graduated with Highest Honors from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. In 2020, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the National LGBTQ Task Force, the country’s oldest national LGBTQ advocacy group working to end discrimination in housing, employment, healthcare, retirement, and basic human rights.
