Washington, D.C. — TechNet, the national network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, issued a statement supporting bipartisan passage of the Respect for Marriage Act following today’s vote to advance the bill in the U.S. Senate. The following can be attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore:

“The technology industry is committed to promoting an inclusive workforce and nation that reflects the diversity of its customers and people. Innovation thrives when diverse voices are able to freely and equally share their ideas, experiences, and perspectives.

“Since our founding 25 years ago, TechNet has continually advocated for policies that promote full equality for all under the law, including marriage equality. The issue now has broad support from most Americans. Codifying the right to marriage equality will eliminate confusion for businesses and help companies recruit and retain talent, ensuring our economy remains robust and innovative.

“We applaud today’s vote to advance this historic legislation and look forward to its final passage in the Senate. We urge the House to quickly pass the Senate version of the Respect for Marriage Act so it can be signed into law by the President.”
