Sacramento, CA — TechNet Executive Director for California Courtney Jensen today issued the following statement on the California Consumer Privacy Act:

“Actions taken by the California Legislature this year will improve the California Consumer Privacy Act, but many clarifications are still necessary before it will work for consumers and businesses. Any privacy law should put consumers first and ensure businesses can comply with the law while continuing to innovate. Unfortunately, California’s privacy law in its current form falls short of these critical benchmarks. While we hope the rulemaking process will allow for additional improvements, the importance of federal action to avoid a patchwork of privacy laws has never been clearer, and we urge Congress to act.”
