Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today welcomed the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) between the United States and a dozen nations: Australia, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The following can be attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore:

“Today’s launch of the IPEF will expand U.S. leadership and competitiveness in the critical Indo-Pacific region and help counteract attempts by foreign competitors to distort markets, negatively impact supply chains, and erect costly and harmful trade barriers.

“The framework announced today will create new economic opportunities for American workers and strengthen key alliances in the region. Agreements like this help our economy grow. The U.S. plays an important and leading role in establishing global norms governing digital trade that fosters innovation, creates new opportunities for American businesses and workers, and strengthens our competitiveness and national security.

Last year, TechNet joined 18 other leading organizations, representing a cross-section of the American economy, in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai calling for the development of digital trade rules in the Indo-Pacific.
